Finding raw screen recording files for use outside Kite

Access screen recording files for use outside Kite

Kite is designed to be an all-in-one screen recorder and editing tool. Most of our users never need to access the raw recording files outside of Kite. However, there are cases where you may need to access the raw screen recording files for use outside Kite.

Kite records your screen separately from the cursor (to support cursor smoothing and style changes) so the raw recording video files will not contain the cursor.

Kite stores your screen recordings inside folders contained inside the .kite project files.

  1. Open your Kite projects folder: (Mac menu bar > Kite > Show projects in Finder):

  1. Then, right click the project file and click "show package contents"

  1. Open the Captures folder:

  1. Your raw screen recordings are stored as MP4 files. Microphone and webcam tracks are stored as WEBM files.
